Point

another term for nib.

Piston filler

a filling system that uses a short cylinder inside a larger cylinder to charge the pen with ink via a turning knob.

Pen specialist

a knowledgeable retailer whose primary focus is writing instruments and related items, such as paper, ink, inkwells, etc.

Overlay

a decorative metal or precious metal sleeve--either openwork or solid--that is used to embellish caps and barrels of pens.

Nib

the metal writing point of a fountain pen. Made primarily from gold or steel, nibs come in a variety of widths and styles, the most common of which are fine, medium and broad.

Mother of pearl

the hard pearly substance forming the inner layer of a mollusk shell. Used, usually in slabs, to decorate pens.
