Bexley

The Bexley Pen Company was founded in 1993 by a handful of vintage pen enthusiasts. After decades of admiring, collecting and restoring vintage writing in-struments, their intent was to use modern technology to create American classic designs reminiscent of the Golden Age of Fountain Pens. Bexley manufactures high-quality writing instruments in Columbus, Ohio, and distributes them to dealers around the world.

Bexley’s product designs take inspiration from the classics. Some of its pens are manufactured from eb-onite, a hardened rubber material that was popular before modern plastics came into use in the 1920s. The company’s premium pens often feature filigree overlays, an elegant style that became popular in the early 1900s. Bexley creates designs with profiles rem-iniscent of classic trends, like streamline shapes that were popular during the 1930s in everything from locomotives to household objects. It also uses a vari-ety of filling systems for its pens. A few can be filled with an eyedropper, some fill using a pushbutton, and others accept either ink cartridges or a piston-actuated converter.

Bexley takes great care to produce distinctive writing instruments for the discerning customer. It uses com-puter-controlled equipment and draws on decades of precision manufacturing experience to produce com-ponents to exacting specifications. Skilled craftsmen carefully hand assemble and polish each pen.

The Product
The Submariner Grande is a recent Bexley release. It has the streamlined shape and heft to make it a new and favorite pen. Nearly twice as heavy as the regular Submariner, a full-metal gripping section gives this pen excellent forward balance and ease in writing. It is available in five classic colors: Regimental Blue, Midnight Black, Mandarin Yellow, Creamy Butterscotch and Polar White. Gold or rhodium-plated rollerball clips, cap bands and gripping sections are available as you choose on each pen.

The fountain pen version is available with Bexley’s 18-karat two-tone nib in four sizes: fine, medium, broad or the unusual broad stub (1.3 mm wide). It accepts international size cartridges, or it can be filled from an ink bottle with the provided converter. The matching rollerball pen accepts widely available Schmidt rollerball refills.

Other pen models include: Prometheus, Tuck-Away, American Artists, Celebration, Sheherazade, Fun Time, 10th Anniversary, Americana, Decoband, Deluxe and Multi-Max. Recent collections include: Submariner Grande, Submariner and the American Artists Series II.

Bexley also has finely crafted pen cases available, and future plans include continued growth as the leading U.S. manufacturer of luxury writing instruments.
