Classic Pens

Classic Pens Limited was formed in 1987. Fountain Pens were a shared passion for the two founders, Andreas Lambrou and Keith G. Brown, and this culminated in 1990 with the launch of the Classic Pens CP series of limited editions.

The CP series comprise flagship models of international pen manufacturers, fully covered in sterling silver and customized by Classic Pens. These writing instruments offer the user unique and exquisite guilloche engravings.

Seven CP editions have been created and marketed to date. Manufacturers who produced the series exclusively for Classic Pens include Sheaffer (CP1, CP2, CP4), Aurora (CP3), Parker (CP5), Pelikan (CP6), and Sailor (CP7).

In 1995, Classic Pens published the book Fountain Pens of the World  authored by Andreas Lambrou.  It provides a comprehensive yet accessible history of the fountain pen and of its primary manufacturers.  The book proved very successful and was reprinted 1998 and 2005.

In 2000, Lambrou and Masa Sunami began development of the LS designs.  These combine the cultures of East and West and they are created by some of the top Maki-E artists in Japan. Twelve LS designs have been created so far, and include novel themes such as Dolphins and Honey Bees. Others employ Raden (pearl inlay) techniques using precious materials such as blue and white pearl, coral and  pure gold.

In 2005, The AL Signature Series was launched with the AL1 Kikusuimon (Chrysanthemum and Stream). Other designs in this series include the AL2 Marlon Brando Tahitian Maiden (produced in cooperation with the Brando Estate), AL3 Virtues, AL4 Harvest and AL5 Windows. They all have a gold dust background in Togidashi Maki-E.

The LS and AL Signature series use the Parker Duofold Centennial as the canvas for the Maki-E art work and carry the Parker Duofold warranty and after sales service. The Maki-E work carries the guarantee of Classic Pens.

The Lambrou and Brown LB series was launched in 2003 with the LB1 Nagahara produced by Sailor, Japan and named after the prolific nib designer Nobuyoshi  Nagahara.

A new chapter in Classic Pens history and pen design started in 2006 with 100 handcrafted duets of LB2 Kimono Shinrin (Forest) & Sakyu (Desert). This novel and exquisite Maki-E design was created through the fruitful collaboration of Lambrou, Sunami, the artist Tatsuya Todo. The design incorporates Togidashi Maki-E sprayed with fine gold dust to give a shimmering finish. Finally, horizontal rings are hand painted along the body of the pen to give a tactile texture when in  use.
