Girard-Perregaux
The esteemed watchmaker Girard-Perregaux is known the world over for its incredible collections of timepieces. From its sport watches to its classical Vintage 1945 to its well-known GP Pour Ferrari, its products appeal to men and women who want both form and function, style and credibility. And now Girard-Perregaux writes a new chapter in its history with the introduction of its collection of writing instruments.
With a reputation for quality and tradition, Girard-Perregaux set out to maintain these same standards in the collection of pens it recently introduced. The fountain pens and rollerballs are finely tuned writing instruments.
Ron Jackson, president and chief executive officer of Tradema, exclusive distributor of Girard-Perregaux in the US, says that the new writing instruments are “an opportunity to offer a new and dynamic range of products—accessories that will be enjoyed and treasured by those who know and appreciate the brand.” In spirit and in style, “they are a direct link to the heritage of Girard-Perregaux,” he says.
The Product
Lost wax casting was employed to create the pens, and each is set with a ruby and accented by pink gold screws. The collection itself has been two years in the making. It is produced from celluloid, known for its light weight, sturdiness, appealing finish and the color options it affords. The collection is available in a warm and subtly pearlized caramel color called Havana that was created exclusively for Girard-Perregaux.
The fountain pens come in three versions: with sterling silver, yellow gold or rose gold appointments. The rollerball pen is available with sterling silver appointments only, and a fountain pen and rollerball set with sterling detail is also offered. The celluloid barrel of the pen is imprinted with “Girard-Perregaux” and the brand logo; the end of the barrel is imprinted with the edition number. There are just 1,791 fountain pens and 400 rollerballs with silver detailing and 50 each with yellow or rose gold appointments. The threaded gripping section of the pen is metal, and the 18-karat gold flexible nib of the fountain pen is also imprinted with the brand name and logo. The piston-filled fountain pen comes with a medium nib, but fine, extra fine and broad nibs are also available; the feeder is ebonite.
The Girard-Perregaux writing instruments may be purchased from a variety of sources. These include the brand’s network of boutiques and watch dealers.
