Jac Zagoory
As an artist, Jac Zagoory has created a new dimension of form and grace. He revels in the rare and unique—from vintage wristwatches to antique collectors’ pens. His vast knowledge stems from his education in jewelry design and fabrication at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Zagoory found early inspiration as a metal sculptor, applying essential elements of design to his creations. He then discovered a passion for the watch as an art form. His first book, A Time To Watch, The Wrist Watch As Art: Classic, Rare, Extraordinary, was published after Zagoory spent a year in the Far East and Europe. His second book, Pen Passion: A Cylindrical Obsession, celebrates the artistic beauty of antique and vintage fountain pens in beautiful settings.
The love Zagoory possesses for his pens comes from his extensive background in design and his ability to extend the importance of art into everyday life. Realizing the growing need for desk accessories that not only create order but also elevate the individual, the artist formed Jac Zagoory Designs. He offers an extensive array of penholders, inkwells, rocker blotters, cardholders and letter openers. With his vision, the office, home and desk have become places where great beauty melds with function.
The Product
Zagoory’s pewter desk art is produced in the United States, and strict attention is paid to every detail, thus insuring high quality. There is an “edge” to the designs that is unique in the desk accessory market. An array of animals—many whimsically rendered—and the human form are frequent subject matter of his sculptured products. His collection of pens, the Motion Pens, are milled on a precision lathe and are available in a variety of finishes. Zagoory’s pen holders are currently used as protocol gifts by the White House.
The Pendura Collection
Jac Zagoory has partnered with Adam Davenport, master model maker, to produce a very limited edition of 18 pens in a series. Made from sterling, gold, and platinum, these are built around penmaker Jean-Pierre Lepine’s sections and 18-karat gold nibs, utilizing the lost wax casting process. Their first series consists of: The Totem Skulls, Machine Gunner, DNA Ladder, America the Beautiful, Y2KCompliant Keyboard pen and the Om pen.
Future plans include a unique sterling gift box that functions as a pen holder and distinctive wrist watches to complement their pens.
